Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge comes as the sports world had expressed condolences for the fighter in the wake of the terrible crash.
