Tottenham Boss Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Real Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Increase Pressure on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals cannot be real Tottenham fans" by boss Thomas Frank.

Tottenham let in a pair of goals in the first six minutes to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th top-flight home defeat of 2025.

However the primary talking point was the visitors' next score when Vicario gave away the ball far outside his box.

The goalkeeper came out to handle a long ball and carried the ball near the touchline.

However, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the sideline measured at 36.6 yards.

Seconds later when the ball went to the keeper again, some Spurs supporters booed him.

Spurs were jeered off at half-time, with the side 2-0 behind, and once more at full-time.

A particular of those jeering sessions really angered Frank.

"I heard some of our fans apparently jeered the incident and jeered following, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Dane stated about the fans' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals can't be real Tottenham supporters that do that. Alright jeering after the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are supporting one another, we are behind one another moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had handed Fulham a early advantage prior to Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an improved second period showing.

Former Premier League keeper Joe Hart stated that the next score was "totally avoidable".

"I do appreciate the supporters' frustration," Hart added. "I know the part the keeper is playing. He is a great squad member, he is a real figure in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"The keeper was heavily involved in what ended up to be the decisive score."

'It is Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Game

Italy national team the keeper is in his 3rd season with Spurs.

The 29-year-old stated after the match that he had to accept the feedback.

"The second goal was a error of mine, I accept responsibility for that," he said.

"The intent was to clear the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a poor manner. It was an more difficult mountain to overcome."

He said being booed "comes with football".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he continued. "The team cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the crowd. The fans have the entitlement to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to stay more composed, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is missing in composure and poise to overturn results. Today is a bad loss and it is hard to accept."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Line'

Despite the keeper's error, it was not an simple score for Harry Wilson to score.

Actually it was the second most distant Premier League goal of the campaign – following Tyler Adams' 43.3 yard goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which incidentally also occurred on the same day.

Wilson said he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an empty goal to target.

Ten seconds passed between the keeper coming out of his box and Wilson shooting – which was five seconds following the kick.

"I felt like the keeper was out of the area for a long time," Wilson said.

"I was surprised none of the back four returned to the line. When not one of them covered the net, my eyes sparked a bit.

"Udogie fell as well, which allowed me a bit of additional opportunity. After that it was solely about trying to make the right connection and get it on target. I felt a positive sense, as soon as it left my foot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Go Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unjustifiable - the Manager

Although Vicario's error dominated coverage, this was an all-round poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home ground struggles.

The match was their tenth at home defeat of the year in the Premier League, a joint club record along with nineteen ninety-four and 2003.

They still have home games against the manager's former club Brentford and champions the Reds to play before the close of the season.

Just a single of those victories have come after the manager replaced his predecessor in the off-season.

"If you are behind 2-0 following the opening, there is a huge challenge to overcome," stated Frank.

"When you're in a bad spell, all aspects seems to go against you too – the opening was a deflected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.

"This result puts us in a position where we have suffered another game. Each fixture has a unique narrative, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We just need to keep working. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to learn."

Spurs have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.

Furthermore they are recording nine point five attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their poorest averages on file in a one campaign (dating back to 2003-04).

Former Fulham midfield player Murphy stated that the manager has to ride the storm.

"He must take the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's accepted a high profile role at a huge team with massive anticipation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
