After a pivotal victory at the Lusail Grand Prix, the Red Bull driver has substantially closed the gap in the title race. He now finds himself just a dozen points behind leader the British driver and in front of teammate Oscar Piastri, the stage is set for a thrilling three-way title decider at the iconic Yas Marina Circuit.

The incredible part of this late-season charge so impressive is the distance he has recovered. After the Dutch Grand Prix in August, he was a massive over a century of points behind the championship leader Oscar Piastri and had openly dismissed his title chances.

The reversal began with major car developments introduced by his team at the Monza. Modifications to the vehicle's underbody and aerodynamic package finally addressed long-standing handling problems, allowing Verstappen to push to the limit with the chassis once more.

Following those upgrades, his form has been completely formidable, securing five wins and multiple podiums. He was eager to praise the collective effort behind this resurgence.

"We have triumphed where maybe the odds were against us, by executing the optimal strategy as a group," he noted. "The way I work with my race engineer and the entire crew... we are perfectly synchronized."

The Equation for a Unforgettable Decider.

Ahead of the head to Abu Dhabi, the mathematics is perfectly defined.

• The championship leader will claim his debut world title if he finishes ahead of both Verstappen and Piastri or secures a top-three position.
• Max Verstappen needs victory and hope that Norris finishes off the podium.
• Oscar Piastri, who is by sixteen points, needs a victory and have Norris end up no higher than sixth.
