FC Barcelona to Host First Match at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday

The club confirmed they will play at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition two and a half years after they moved out so building work could begin.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside based on approved permits. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed finished work included an updated entryway for the team and new dressing rooms.

Barça organized a public practice on the home pitch in early November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from Uefa to host the next European match facing Eintracht in December in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
